tig derrivative (helmet family)

In the 1980s, only two companies possessed the means to produce titanium helmets: the Swiss company Tig Bicord AG and Ulbrechts of Austria. Both companies pursued a similar style helmet which maximized coverage of the wearer's head while providing radio communications and a removable ballistic faceshield.

The original version of this helmet was known as the PSH-77. These helmets would later be purchased and copied by the USSR and the Russian Federation. Many derivatives would be created that used a mix of titanium, aramids like Kevlar, steel and aluminum.

The "tig derivative" tag refers to all of these helmets. Other tags specify individual types. They include, but are not limited to,

altyn (helmet)
PSH-77
Rys-T

This tag implicates ballistic_helmet and helmet (learn more).
