  • Personal Photos of a Skyraider Pilot (1952)

    ㅤㅤㅤ‎

    "In The Pack"

was written on the back of the photo by the unknown photographer, seen are A-1 Skyraiders and F4U Corsairs on the flight deck, engines on. 2 F9F Panthers fly just ahead.

Another photo in the collection show the Banshees as from VF-31 "Tomcatters". Another shows the Corsair with the BuNo 82161 which was of VF-32 "White Lightning". And lastly, one shows the ship being the USS Leyte, leaving the likely squadron for the Skyraiders as VA-35 "Black Panthers".

There was seemingly a small period in 1952 in which VF-31 was operating the F2H Banshee while VF-32 was operating the F4U Corsair before their transfer to the F9F-6 Cougar in November.
