Japanese battleship Yamato maneuvering to avoid U.S. aircraft attacks near Kure, Japan, on March 19, 1945. The explosions seen around the vessel are from American bombs and torpedoes targeting the ship during this engagement. While Yamato was only lightly damaged during this specific encounter, it was eventually sunk by U.S. forces on April 7, 1945.
