PANMUNJOM, Korea, Aug. 5, 1953...A United Nations soldier arrives at Freedom Village to herald the "Big Switch" prisoner exchange at the end of Korean War hostilities.
He is greeted by an American Red Cross field director. The ditty bag he is carrying is a gift of the Red Cross. The American Red Cross also offered American soldiers immediate free radiograms home and also a free telephone call as soon as they arrived in the United States.
